Dr. Sudha Rani Pandey: History has often relegated women’s contribution to the significantly creative works of mankind, to the dustbin of amnesia. It is well known for example, that Khanaa, the daughter in law of Varah Mihir the great Sanskrit scholar, was often the main provider of his ideas. An enquiry into the role of Vidushi Vidyottama, the woman behind the writings of the famous Sanskrit poet Kalidasa, has now been envisioned, developed and researched with the blessings of the visionary Sri Sri Mouni Baba, under the aegis of Ram Nam Sewaa Ashram Nyaas, Ujjain.
In pursuance of the same vision, The Vidushi Vidyottama Stree Shakti Samman is an effort to recognize current research work in Sanskrit by acknowledging the contribution of a contemporary Woman Scholar of Sanskrit.

This years’ awardee, Dr. Sudha Rani Pandey is presently the First Lady Vice Chancellor of the Uttarakhand Sanskrit University, Haridwar. She had achieved this position by a lifetime of sheer diligence, hard work & perseverance. Born on 22 October, 1947 Dr. Sudha Rani Pandey’s Career centered mainly in the field of Women’s Education & Promotion of Women’s Identity. Dr. Pandey did M.A. in Sanskrit, M.A. in Hindi, and Ph.D. & D.Litt. from Agra & Kanpur University. She was First Lady Member of Uttarakhand Public Service Commission from 28 May, 2001 to 27 May, 2007. Dr. Sudha Rani Pandey had been the Principal of S. N. Sen Girls (P.G.) College, Kanpur & M. K. P. (P. G.) College, Dehradun. She was Vice-Chancellor of H. N. B. Garhwal University in the years 1991-99.mm
Dr. Pandey has always been dedicated to women development programs by organizing various Creative activities like workshop & Seminars focused on women’s issues. Important papers for women developments & problems of women education which are published & presented by Dr. Pandey are, ‘Education for Women & Equality’ ‘Future of women Education in India’, ‘Problems of Indian women Writers’, ‘Uttarakhand women & Literacy’, ‘Mujhe Bhi Dharti par ane do’, ’Women & Environment’, ‘Gender equality Myth & Reality’, ‘Strong Network for peace and Conflict Resolution : with special reference to women studies’, ‘Reflection on women’s voice in Poetry’, ‘Kalidasa aur Stri-vimarsh’.
Her published works, in Sanskrit, Hindi and English mostly deal with Pan Indian and Sanskrit Literature, Indian Languages, National Integration, Women studies, and Buddhist studies etc.
She was honored ‘Doon Ratan Samman’, ‘Azadi ki Swarn Jayanti Samman’, ‘Uttranchal Ratan Samman’, ‘Karm Shree Samman’, ‘Uttranchal Rajya Mahila Ayog Samman’, and ‘Utkarsh Shiksha Samman’.
