Veteran author and journalist honoured with the 'Dayawati Modi Stree Shakti Samman' award
Anula de Silva was born on 27th January 1941 in Polwatta village in Ambalangoda. Anula published her first novel "Unmanthkayo" in 1964. After that she completed her post graduate diploma in journalism in creative writing at University of Sri Jayawardanapura. Anula started her career as a teacher in 1964. During the same time she got the opportunity to join Lake House as a young writer; whereby she became a full time writer in "Mihira".
